Changelings

Gothic tales and the darker side of faerie inspire me and are quite literally stitched into my work, becoming its whole.

Letters, words or phrases of these stories are glimpsed and intrigue the viewer, while wired or wirework pieces which sometimes accompany my stitched pieces represent the female or an important object at the centre of each story.

The lace techniques I use began when researching the richness of the Tudor period and in particular the lace ruffs and cuffs of Elizabeth I, for earlier work.
